Think about the defining influences of these four generations. Think of what’s changed during their lifetimes. Think of what’s important to them. How do you relate to each of them? Now, what can you imagine the next four generations will be like? What are they called? What do they do? What character traits and purpose define them? What do they struggle with? What do you think they’ll need to collectively thrive?

Don’t immediately go to a dark place as you imagine the future. If we think of climate crisis and nuclear war and Hunger Games, our potential for connection and empathy will be compromised before it’s even forged. Try, instead, feeling future generations’ joy. Their awe. Their gratitude. If we really think about it, we have a good amount of knowledge about the needs of our descendants. We have a good sense of what we should be doing, and not doing, to earn their respect, and maybe even their thanks.
